Table of Contents
Alice in Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland is one of my favourite books so I was excited to see it as a wedding theme at a wedding.
It involved various shades of blue which they brought in with dried petals. They brought lots of hats (for the mad hatters among their friends). Favours included delicious homemade baked goodies all labelled ‘eat me’ and personalised drink jars labelled ‘drink me’. An upside down cake (from M&S btw) and vintage teapots and tea cups brought their Alice in Wonderland wedding theme beautifully to life.
But best of all was the bride’s blue silk and lace wedding dress and deep blue irregular choice shoes. Striking and so much fun.
Yellow in the Winter
In winter flowers are harder to come by, because winter. But, a really easy and gorgeous wedding theme is using fresh lemons and winter leaves to decorate your wedding. Add to that a white balloon bouquet and white balloons throughout your venue and you’re all set. If you have kids at your wedding, they’ll love playing with all the balloons too, so you’ll be winning on several levels.
Colourful 50s Vintage chic
If having a green wedding is important to you, then this colourful 50s vintage chic wedding theme would be perfect for you. Vibrantly colourful home-sewn bunting and fresh home-grown herbs as table centrepieces and favours for each guests to take away and enjoy are easy to make and plastic free. The bride’s bouquet was home-grown in her garden and bursting with colour and happiness with those beautiful yellow sunflowers.
Irregular choice wedding shoes, borrowed from her sister were both the cherry on top and her something borrowed. Add to that your grandmother’s vintage jewellery and purse and your wedding will be super chic and environmentally conscious.
Hessian, Lavender and Mint wedding theme
Purple and light green go together really well. Pair those with kraft card and hessian and you have a wedding theme that is really earthy, natural and relaxed. Pair purple wild flowers, lavender, mint and rosemary in rustic jugs and your table centrepieces will shout fragrance and summer.
Mint wrapped love hearts, each with a sprig of lavender laid onto your guests menu tie it all together. Echo this in boys’ buttonholes and your bridesmaids dresses, wraps and flowers and your wedding theme will be complete. Add small touches like a homemade hessian, lavender and mint seating plan, mint and lace chair ties and subtle lavender candles and it will all feel very sophisticated. Simple and beautiful.
Exquisite champagne and lilac decadence
Champagne and lilac are another combination that go really well together and exude glamor and decadence. At Horsley Towers, lilac chair ties were paired with a champagne and lilac seating plan and went beautifully with little lilac bows to tie their place setting together. Hand out confetti in shades of pink and purple to all of your guests to use. Lilac wedding shoes, light purple roses for your wedding bouquet and the same shade for your bridesmaids dresses and flowers and will complement your wedding theme beautifully.
