The first time I met Helga and Barry I knew we clicked. Then they booked me on the spot and I was very excited. Their plans for their Shustoke Farm Barns mint lavender Wedding sounded lovely and when we caught up for their pre-wedding shoot at beautiful Scotney Castle in Kent I couldn’t wait until their wedding day.
I arrived with Helga early in the morning and she and her bridesmaids were already in a flurry of preparation. As a Documentary Wedding Photographer I love this part of the day. Everything is buzzing with energy and excitement. You can feel the tension of everything coming together just at the right time. The girls were soon ready and jumped into their VW van to take them to Shustoke Farm Barns.
Shustoke Farm Barns is such a gorgeous wedding venue. It’s easily accessible and only about 20 minutes from the centres of Birmingham and Coventry. This gorgeous group of red brick, 18th-Century buildings with tall flagstone walls has lots of beautiful oaks and a lovely courtyard with 5 ancient olive trees.
Barry and his groomsmen were relaxing in the courtyard. Then all of their wedding guests arrived in the large room and everyone prepared for Helga’s arrival. Through the unique brick windows of Shustoke Farm Barns I saw Helga’s VW bus arrive.

Helga and Barry’s Shustoke Farm Barns mint lavender Wedding ceremony was really lovely and after a short couple session and pulling the ‘Zoolander’ face at their VW van, they went back and mingled with their guests while their room was turned around for their wedding breakfast. Their wedding meal was fab and their three speeches were very funny and moving. Then it was time for Helga and Barry to cut their cake and ring in the Party with their first dance.
The efficiency at Shustoke Farm Barns is fantastic and the whole day ran very smoothly. All in all this was a greatly fun day and as a documentary wedding photographer I just loved being part of it.
