Sometimes, when a wedding comes together, you meet a real superhero. At Bea and Jason’s gorgeous Smedmore House Romantic Irish Seaside Wedding, that person was Bea’s lovely mum, Gillian. Not only did she make Bea’s stunning dress, including old family lace from Jason’s side, she also made her hairpiece, all of the bridesmaids’ dresses, baked the cake, grew and arranged the flowers, made the seashell candles that adorned the tables, and constructed the table plan!
I. Know. Amazing, right?
The care and attention that had gone into the whole day was so clear to see, and it was wonderful to have the family members so involved with the planning. Bea’s family is an important one for me, as I photographed both her brothers Mike and Nat‘s weddings over the last few years, and I was really happy to be invited to Dorset to record Bea’s special day too.
A Romantic House by the Sea
Smedmore House has a gorgeous view out over the sea, and a beautiful soft light that makes the wood seem to glow from within. Bea and her bridesmaids got ready at Smedmore House as well, and it was great to be able to shoot in several of its beautiful rooms.
One of my favourite parts of this Smedmore House Romantic Irish Seaside Wedding was the couple shots. Bea and Jason led me down to Kimmeridge Bay, and proceeded to totally rock their shots together by standing in the waves! I’m always chuffed to bits when my couples are prepared to be adventurous with their photos, and I love a challenge – to get these shots I ended up with muddy feet and a very wet bum to boot. Oops!
Then it was party time, and what a party it was! Jason’s family hail from Ireland, so there was Irish music from the band, and a lot of hilarious Irish dancing.
It’s been tough to pick favourites from this one, but here we go! If you like what you see and would like to have a chat about your wedding, why not get in touch and give me a hello? I’d love to hear about your plans.
