When Zoe and Gideon asked me to be their Norfolk wedding photographer and capture their beautiful homemade King’s Lynn wedding at St Peter’s Church, and after hearing their story I couldn’t resist.
A King’s Lynn wedding: Zoe and Gideon’s story
Zoe and Gideon met when they were very young teenagers and after going out with each other for a few years had, as it often happens at this age, decided to go their separate ways. Each of them went to university, made their own friendships and experiences. They started families and each had 3 children. Years later when they met again by chance, and with their previous relationships behind them, they found a new rekindled love that was deeper than ever. They decided to seal their love by having a King’s Lynn wedding, at the country house of their friends.
I love the details that Zoe and Gideon chose to decorate their homemade wedding venue and day. It had such a homely and friendly feel, that proves that homemade and low key don’t have to mean cheap looking at all. St Peter’s Church, a favourite of the Prince of Wales, is known as “the Cathedral of the Fens”, and while it is one of the largest churches in the UK, but very welcoming and light.
Zoe’s oldest son gave her away, two of the boys performed ‘I’m feeling good’ on the piano, and all 6 of Zoe and Gideon’s children spoke in their honour at their wedding ceremony.
It was lovely to see the happiness and anticipation on both of their faces as they began their joint life together at last. It was also moving, how supportive all of their children and guests were. With friends travelling in from all over the UK as well as the US, it was an intimate homemade wedding party with a lot of atmosphere.
