This was one of my last weddings of 2017, and what a way to bring the year to a close! Kate and Tom are such a fabulous couple, and their wedding was welcoming, hilarious and full of love from start to finish. People are sometimes concerned that having a winter wedding will mean a cold day that’s somehow a little harsher than the balmy events of June and July. If that’s you, then let this Lyde Court winter wedding show you just how warm (and absolutely kick-ass) December weddings can be!
Kate got ready at her parents’ cottage with her besties, and there was a lot of giggling and several glasses of bubbly. This is a family with a knack for face pulling. Kate’s ‘OMG we just got married’ face as she comes back down the aisle is one of my all-time favourites! And so is her dad’s reaction when he saw her in her dress for the first time. Excellent!
A warming winter wedding ceremony
After a lovely ceremony in Kate’s family church – St Mary’s in Fownhope – the newlyweds headed off in their personalised VW van to Lyde court, which was decked out and twinkling with lights and candles. It looked so Christmassy and gorgeous, I couldn’t help grinning when I walked in. The decorations were really fun (and some of them had everyone laughing out loud.) The couple had gone for photographic place cards, choosing pictures of themselves with each guest. If they didn’t have an image that worked, they used the magic (!) of photoshop and plonked Tom’s head on top of whoever else the guest in question was pictured with. Needless to say, the results were hysterical! It doesn’t really get more unique and fun than that.
I loved the speeches at this warming Lyde Court Winter Wedding as it wasn’t just the turn of the men to make toasts and tell stories (too right!). The speech of the day had to go to the bridesmaids, who had everyone roaring with laughter.
Then it was time to party, and Err. Merr. Gerrrd. These guys know how to rock a dance floor! So many epic moves! So much air guitar! And BEER PONG!
Have a look through the gallery and feel the party vibes just rippling off these images (yep, it’s a bigish set… I just couldn’t choose! #sorrynotsorry.) Bonus points if you spot the sheep’s head and just check out Kate’s dress at the end of the night!
