Bad weather on your wedding day doesn’t usually worry me. Of course it’s unpleasant, but it doesn’t make much of a difference during the ceremony or during the speeches. You can usually also find a bit of shelter while you munch on canapés and sip champagne. It’s a little more inconvenient during group shots and your couple session. But even then I like the challenge and find new and creative ways to incorporate it into the day and your photos. That said, Emily and Guy’s Umbrellas and Tailcoats Rainy Marquee Wedding at Emily’s parents home in Dorset was wet on whole other level.
When it rained on their day, it poured. And when it poured, our feet sank into an immediate ankle deep puddle wherever we stepped. If there was ever a case for wellies, this was probably it.
Did this stop anybody from having a blast though? Haha! No way!
The bright and airy marquee in the back garden of Emily’s parents’ Dorset home was beautifully decorated with lots of handmade touches. Colourful paper lanterns hung from the ceiling. Homegrown summer flowers added colour to the tables. Meters upon meters of handmade bunting and a ceiling mobile made of patiently folded origami cranes added a quirky feel.
So what that it was bucketing it down outside in the storm? So what that sprinting was probably the best way to get anywhere? Once you stepped into the marquee, you were immediately pulled in by the laughter and happiness of everyone enjoying the day.
Both Emily in her beautifully simple White Rose wedding dress and Guy who wore Charles Tyrwhitt tailcoats were gorgeously stylish and didn’t let the torrential downpours spoil the mood of their day.
Rain on your wedding day is lucky, right?
From the lovely ceremony at St Mary’s Church, to the happy hugs and group shots on her parents’ grounds, to the laughter filled speeches, and the epic party at the end of the day supported by the very talented The Salvation band, this wedding party wouldn’t let a bit (or even a lot) of stormy weather curb their fun.
In fact, when it came to the end of the day, everyone chipped in to push the cars out of the neighbouring field, which had turned into a proper swamp from the downpours. Mud fight anyone? 😉
That’s the way to do it!
