A beautiful summer Prague Star Summer Palace Wedding

When Andrea and Ondra asked me to capture their Prague Star Summer Palace Wedding, the Letohrádek Hvězda, I was very excited. The Star Summer Palace is a Renaissance summer palace in the shape of a six-pointed star, built in 1556 for Archduke Ferdinand of Tyrol. It sits at the end of a long avenue in the lovely wooded park of Obora hvězda, a hunting reserve to the West of Prague City Centre.

It was a beautiful sunny day and Ondra and Andrea both prepared for their wedding ceremony at Ondra’s parents house. It was balancing act to both get ready at the same house without seeing each other, but they pulled it off and soon made their way to the Park and their Prague Star Summer Palace Wedding in separate cars.

I love how unique the Star Summer Palace is. It is both a museum and an art gallery, and occasionally it also doubles up as a Prague Wedding venue. The Star Summer Palace is surrounded by beautiful forest grounds, some wild and dense and some airy and grand. Several large alleys run through the park making it popular with families, dog owners and people looking for a walk away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Prague. It was just perfect for Andrea and Ondra’s Prague Wedding ceremony and so I just had to take them into the grounds for their couple session before we moved on to their reception venue.

Once here, the party really began. Speeches and laughs were interspersed with some traditions like Andrea and Ondra sweeping shards off the floor to show they are a good team and can work together, or feeding the soup to each other while they shared a joint ‘napkin’. Then Andrea threw her wedding bouquet and they danced their first dance with that starting a party that was both wild and hilarious fun. Let me just say, when you have breakdancing at a wedding celebration, you know it’s a good party, and, man, do those Czechs know how to party! 🙂
