I love an iconic London location, and it doesn’t get much more elegant than a Lanesborough wedding in Knightsbridge. Both the ceremony room and the reception room that Joanna and Joe had chosen for their wedding are jaw-dropping. Everything is just so opulent and gorgeous – check out the INCREDIBLE chandeliers. It’s definitely one of London’s most glamorous wedding venues.
I am a big fan of Joanna’s dress. Instead of a massive princess meringue creation, which might have been tempting in such splendid surroundings, her modern, chic and oh-so-cool take on bridal style knocked it out of the park. Way to break the mould. The black and white images from this Lanesborough wedding highlight both Joanna and Joe’s super chic movie-star style. Such a glamorous and gorgeous couple!
These two opted for a first look and had their couple portrait session before the ceremony. A popular trend in the USA, the first look is gaining popularity fast here, too. Personally I love it. It’s a chance to have some time together before the whirlwind of well wishes from all your friends and family. It also takes the pressure off later, and you can spend all of your post-ceremony time with your guests. And a first look allows you to calm any butterflies or nerves you might be feeling; and have an all-important hug or fist-bump before you go for it and GET MARRIED. Joanna and Joe also opted to walk down the aisle together – starting their marriage as they mean to go on – as a team.
Choosing a central London location for your wedding like The Lanesborough can make for interesting couple’s portraits. Right on the corner of Hyde Park, you’re less likely to find a totally private space in which to shoot, but the atmosphere add so much too. I love the busyness of these London street images. The fact that the passers-by are sharing a tiny piece of Joe and Joanna’s big day is a really happy thought! We did manage to get a bit of peace and quiet in the lush green of the park, and Joe and Joanna enjoyed these quiet moments together.
Back at The Lanesborough, it was finally time for their ‘I do’s. Then things moved into the gold gorgeousness of the reception space for delicious canapés, champagne and precious time spent with family and friends, to the sound of a live string quartet.
A totally beautiful and elegant day shared with lovely people, and an absolute joy to capture! Are you planning wedding at the Lanesborough and are looking for a documentary wedding photographer? Get in touch, and let’s talk about your photographs!
