As a creative wedding photographer I loved shooting this wedding at Drumtochty Castle in Laurencekirk, in Scotland, close to Aberdeen. The beautiful 19th century castle and church are tucked away in a Scottish glen and offer a wedding venue and ceremony full of Scottish character and charm.

Of kilts and tiny bottles of courage

I started off with the boys in the morning. The traditional outfits, including kilts, vests and shoes were handsome and somewhat breezy, making for many jokes between the boys. They had already started their morning with 10 year old scotch, making the cold walk down to the church that much more bearable and fun.

Arriving at the church there were a few more sips and then lots of anticipation for the bride to come. And how stunning is she in her dress? This has got to be one of the most glam dresses I’ve shot to date. Long and flowing but hugging and beautifully formed in the bodice, it’s a dress any bride would dream of.

The ceremony and celebrations – the Scottish way

This stunning couple got married at midday and after a quick stint for photos returned to rejoin everyone at Drumtochty Castle. There were pipers, haggis, a great Scottish band, beautiful roses and table decorations, scrumptious food and Scottish fudge, freely flowing whiskey, and finally Scottish keilidh, which all added to the authenticity of this Scottish wedding. Half-way through the celebrations we managed to sneak away for a few more couple shots, capturing a few that made my creative wedding photographer heart beat a little faster with excitement.

Deliciously beautiful and tons of fun, I really enjoyed photographing this wedding. Thank you for being such great hosts and a beautiful couple to photograph and congratulations to you both and best wishes for your future together!
