Let’s be honest. When you hear ‘golf club hotel wedding’, avant garde art, a fashion forward couple and loads of quirky touches isn’t the first thing you’ll think of. Am I right? But Lee and Sophie’s artistic wedding at The Grove in Hertfordshire was just that and then some. This venue is something really special, and it suited Lee and Sophie to a tee.
There is a striking piece of art or sculpture, or a feature staircase everywhere you look! Sweeping and spiralling and just so stylishly decorated – I could have spent hours running up and down them with my camera. (Check out the giant giraffe painting – I think it’s my favourite!) There was a whole host of other gorgeousness to shoot, so let’s start with Sophie’s dress, shall we?! The appliqued flowers on the sleeves and all up the back of the gown were lovely and delicate, and the long train packed some punch! She looked absolutely stunning.
Class entertainment at an artistic wedding at The Grove
The guests at this artistic wedding at The Grove were spoilt for choice when it came to entertainment. Not just canapés and post-ceremony mingling. Oh no! A magician and a caricaturist (super fun idea!) were there to entertain the guests. Oh, and a couple of falcons just casually hanging out! The guests loved the birds of prey (no surprises there) and young and old alike couldn’t take their eyes off these beautiful, fierce creatures. Animals at weddings are definitely different.
It was a gorgeously sunny spring day, and I had great fun with Sophie and Lee during their couple’s portraits in the grounds of The Grove. The blossom and really lovely modern sculpture made for great backdrops.
After dinner and some hilarious speeches, Sophie and Lee were given a wonderful, heartfelt surprise. Sophie’s dad and her brother played guitar and sang to them. The emotion was clear to see among bride, groom and guests. Such a lovely personal touch. It was the perfect start to a great party and the perfect end to a wonderful day.
