Horsley Towers Wedding Photography

The first time I shot a wedding at De Vere Horsley Estate Towers Wedding Venue I immediately fell in love with it as a venue. And really! What’s not to love?

Horsley Towers is stunning and truly unforgettable. Did you know that it was built by the same guy who built London’s iconic Houses of parliament? (That’s Charles Barry btw)

From the first time you come up that long drive and see the towers and as you walk around the property and when you finally see the arches… Seriously. Your wedding photos can only be goooooorgeous.

This page is a collection of glorious photos of the venue, lots of useful tips to help you plan your wedding at Horsley Towers and links to my favourite wedding galleries that will all help you make the most of your Horsley Towers Wedding Photography.

Tips for your Horsley Towers Wedding Photography

Make the most of the grounds

On your wedding day you get exclusive access to the grounds and all aspects of the venue for your Horsley Towers Wedding Photography, so make the most of it. The lake is a fabulous background for photos in any weather and well worth the walk to go to the back and get some gorgeous photos too.

If you can, plan to get ready there. It will save so much travel time, take away some stress of wondering if you’ll be late and best of all, you’ll be able to walk down the amazing staircase to your ceremony and groom. When the wedding nerves are at their highest, why not make it convenient and easy for yourself?

Toastmaster included

Your wedding package includes your very own Toastmaster. How cool is that? You’d be surprised how the logistics of a day can eat up your chatting time. Moving people from here to there can often feel a bit like herding cars, so the Toastmaster is a great idea. Steve is fantastic at organising people and moving them where they need to be as quickly as possible. So if you’d like a confetti shot (usually held at the front of the building), let him know. If you’d like a shot of everyone (usually done at the back of the building), just ask, and if you’d like certain people organised for your group shots, so they can be done quickly, he’s your man. Nobody wants to stand around in a line for ages, especially when there is bubbly to be had. So use him. He’s a great resource to have around.

The Horsley Towers Chapel and Cloister Arches

There isn’t many venues that have a feature quite as striking as the Chapel and Cloister Arches at Horsley Towers. They are so distinctive and pop right out of your photos. Bets are, this is one of the features you loved when you viewed the venue for the first time. So make time to go to the cloisters and the ornate little chapel when you plan out your day.

The Chapel has a Moroccan feel with it’s distinct blue and white tiles. It also ties in beautifully with the orange and brown brickwork of the Cloisters too.

Leave the guests to enjoy the bubbles, the lawn games and the chat and head off to capture some timeless portraits. If you don’t go anywhere else for your couple photos, make sure you go there. Just make sure your photographer knows what they’re doing in low light, as it’s quite dim in there and a less experienced photographer might struggle to get the shots you want.

Take your time

Please make time for your photos. With a venue like this it would be a shame not to show it off, so plan to have a good 30-40 mins for photos. Sounds like a lot, but the grounds are massive and if you’d like to make the most of your Horsley Towers Wedding Photography, give your lovely photographer plenty of time not only to get the shots but also to get you to the best locations and back in time. Nothing like a grumpy caterer waiting for their missing bride and groom while they try to keep your food hot. 😬
